Titus Mennen\u00a0(Weert,13 januari, 1961)\u00a0is een Nederlands zwemtrainer.<\/p>\n

Bedrijfsleven<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Van 1993 tot 2009 is Mennen actief als manager bij Center Parcs,\u00a0Sportfondsenbad\u00a0Amersfoort en Sportfondsen Nederland.<\/p>\n

Coach<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Mennen is opgeleid aan het CIOS\u00a0te Sittard. Van 1983-1993 is hij hoofdcoach van PSV Eindhoven waar hij samenwerkt met Astrid van den Hoogenband en haar zoon Pieter van den Hoogenband. Van 1993 tot 1996 is hij parttime bondscoach Jeugd bij de KNZB.<\/p>\n

In 2009 keert hij fulltime terug bij de KNZB\u00a0als bondscoach Junioren, Jeugd en programmamanager Talentontwikkeling. In samenwerking met Jacco Verhaeren bouwt Mennen verder aan de infrastructuur van talentontwikkeling in Nederland met, in navolging van de Nationale Trainingscentra, de Regionale Trainingscentra en Talentcentra.<\/p>\n

Mennen begeleidt de nationale jeugdteams tijdens de Europese Jeugd Kampioenschappen in 1993 (Istanbul), 1994 (Pardubice) en 1995 (Wenen) en in zijn tweede periode in 2010 (Helsinki), 2011 (Belgrado), 2012 (Antwerpen), 2013 (Szcezin), 2014 (Dordrecht) en 2016 (Hodmezovazahely).<\/p>\n

Technisch Directeur<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Na het vertrek van Joop Alberda\u00a0als technisch directeur zwemmen van de KNZB\u00a0in juli 2016, neemt Mennen de taken tot december 2016 waar.<\/p>\n

Vertrek KNZB<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Op 1 maart 2017 stopt Mennen met zijn werkzaamheden voor de KNZB. Bij zijn vertrek wordt hij ge\u00eberd met de “Titus Mennen-Bokaal”, die na ieder Nederlands Junioren & Jeugd Kampioenschap wordt uitgereikt aan de, in de breedte, best presterende zwemvereniging. Mennen reikte de Bokaal op 29 januari 2017 uit aan zijn vroegere vereniging PSV.<\/p>\n

Titus Mennen is van 1 maart 2001 tot en met 31 augustus 2009 in dienst geweest van Sportfondsen Nederland B.V., eerst als interim-manager en later in de functie van regiomanager.<\/p>\n

In deze periode heb ik Titus leren kennen als een energieke, gedreven en resultaatgerichte manager die verantwoordelijkheid neemt en zijn afspraken nakomt.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you see is what you get\u201d is in zijn geheel op Titus van toepassing. Drive, betrokkenheid, doelgericht zijn Titus zijn kernwaarden. Titus heeft bij ons grote en voor onze sport belangrijke veranderingen doorgevoerd. Daarbij heeft hij weerstanden moeten overwinnen en overwonnen.<\/p>\n

De werkwijze die hij hanteert is te beschrijven in vasthoudendheid in vriendschap. Mensen voor zich winnen maar ook duidelijk aangeven waar de grenzen zijn. Op basis van die argumenten zouden wij Titus \u2018morgen\u2019 weer inzetten voor een traject binnen de KNZB.<\/p>\n

Titus Mennen is een vooraanstaande expert op het terrein van talentherkenning en ontwikkeling. Vanuit het zwemmen, de meest controleerbare en vergelijkbare sport, ontwikkelde hij diverse modellen op micro en macro niveau voor de Koninklijke Nederlandse Zwembond. Zelf stond hij aan de basis van de beste zwemmer van Nederland, Pieter van den Hoogenband.<\/p>\n

Zijn inzichten en expertise op het terrein van talent maakt hem een veelgevraagd expert ook in andere sporten. Mennen is een enthousiaste inspirerende spreker die van begin tot eind zijn toehoorders weet te boeien. Hij paart inhoudelijke expertise aan enthousiasme. Hij zet aan tot nadenken en stelt toch heldere kaders. Dat maakt hem tot een ideale discussiepartner.<\/p>\n

Als jongen van 17 startte Titus Mennen met de opleiding voor Sportleider aan het CIOS te Sittard. 3 jaar lang heb ik met hem mogen samenwerken rondom de vakken Zwemmen en Trainingskunde. Ook toen al toonde hij zijn ambities. Deed veel meer dan eigenlijk verwacht mocht worden. Zijn enthousiasme, tomeloze inzet, humor en tactvolle benadering, maakten van hem de ideale persoon om mee samen te werken. Zeker ook in de zwemsport. Na diens opleiding is het contact met Titus gebleven. Steeds verder ontwikkelde hij zich: werd een geweldige coach en manager en daarnaast ook een kundig en overtuigend spreker. Op Titus kon ik altijd rekenen. Een prachtig voorbeeld van wat je kunt bereiken door de juiste combinatie van expertise, passie en mede menselijkheid.<\/span><\/p>\n
